What Do “Back” and “Lay” Mean in a Betting Exchange?
  • Back Bets (Blue Marked Odds): Betting on an outcome to happen.
  • Lay Bets (Pink Marked Odds): Betting against an outcome happening (acting as the bookmaker).

Understanding Liability

In a lay bet, you could win the backer’s stake but also risk paying out a higher amount. Your liability is the amount you may have to pay if you lose.

Example:

  • You lay a team at 2.42 odds, and the backer stakes ৳100.
  • Your liability is ৳142, as this is the worst-case scenario.

Possible Outcomes:

  • Team loses → You win ৳100 (minus commission).
  • Team wins → You lose ৳142.
